2019 WSC Kaohsiung Round
On March 22-23, 24 students alongside Ms. Chen and Mr. Lines traveled to Kaohsiung to compete in the regional round of World Scholars Cup. This was the largest event in Taiwanese history with over 410 scholars from 22 different schools. The students competed in team debates, collaborative writing, the Scholar's Challenge and the Scholar's Bowl. Some exciting moments for our students included Steve Loo in sixth grade being selected to participate in the Debate Showcase (with the best debaters from the competition) and Chrissie Gross in twelfth grade wow-ing the crowd with her rendition of "Everybody Gets a Kitten" - which was posted on the World Scholars Cup Facebook Group!
Besides all of the medals listed below, every single team from Hsinchu American School qualified to participate in the global rounds in Beijing, The Hague, Sydney, Manila, Nursultan and Durban. Ms. Chen and Mr. Lines could not be prouder of our HASpacas - most of which were first time scholars. They hope that their experience with WSC will nurture a love of learning, fun, samples of pasta and chairs.
