On Sunday, August 29 and Monday, August 30 HAS Student Council members went on a retreat to Taichung. This is an annual event where students get to bond, learn all about Stuco and plan events for the year. This year was a great success and we are very excited about our Student Council!

Due to Covid, Monday morning assemblies at HAS take place via Google Meets. All students on campus watch assembly on the screens in their first block classrooms. In Social Studies, the third grade class learned about the transcontinental railroad in America. To wrap up this lesson, the students learned to play the game Ticket to Ride which shows how train routes have expanded through time. The students had fun completing their train tickets by connecting different routes. What a wonderful way to finish the week!

This month, almost half of the elementary students earned Lexia Superstar certificates! Hank, Chung Tai, Suri, Apple, Angela, Wesley, and Albert all advanced one level this month. In preparation for Earth Day, our entire school took part in a special “Clean-Up Day” event last Friday. Beforehand, students discussed the local and global littering problem with their homeroom classes and brainstormed ways to make a difference. They then took action by cleaning up both inside and outside of our school. Some outside focused areas included our sports fields, playground, and parking area.
