10/29 Elementary Science Lab Safety Procedure

The youngest scientists on campus participated in an exciting science lesson with Mr. Hall exploring all the different types of sciences such as: chemistry, physics, biology, life science, geology and astronomy. Each student wore a lab coat, gloves, and safety goggles as part of the science lab safety procedure protocol. Now they are ready to explore the world!

10/29 Ultimate Frisbee Game vs AST

On October 29, there was an ultimate frisbee game between the Hsinchu American School and Taichung American School. It started off as one school playing against the other, then both schools mixed teammates and played 2 different games with the new teams that were created. The students that attended had lots of fun at this event, and all of the players would like to repeat this excellent experience.

10/29 College Visit: Jacobs University

A representative of Jacobs University Bremen was on campus yesterday to give a presentation. Being the only all-English university in Germany, Jacobs is an interesting alternative for HAS students seeking to study in Europe. Students were also able to learn about studying in Germany in general, an affordable university option for international students.

10/29 WASC Training Conference in Malaysia

On Tuesday, Vice Principal Mrs.Wilson attended a Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) training conference in Malaysia. WASC is an association that is student centered and values student success above all else. This was an amazing experience to network with other school leaders and to talk about how to best prepare our students for success!

10/26 Community Service: ESWF Warehouse

During October 26 2019, there was a community service event at the eden warehouse in Taipei. There were students that helped out in the warehouse by folding clothes and cataloging them. Clothes from all over the world have been donated to the eden warehouse and it was the students opportunity to learn about the different styles of clothing as well as organizing them.

10/24 Canadian College Fair @ HAS

Today at HAS we had the special privilege of hosting a Canadian College Fair on our campus. We had representatives from the University of Calgary, the University of Winnipeg, Ontario Tech University and many more. This event provided the students with the unique opportunity to talk personally with many different college representatives who were eager to help them plan for their futures. Since this was done in a smaller setting, it allowed to students to be able to have valuable one-on-one conversations with the representatives to ensure all of their questions were answered. Here at HAS, we value our student’s futures and this event was a great starting point for many of those in attendance.

10/24 College Visit - San Jose University

Today at HAS we had a visit from San Jose State University. This was a very informational time for the students to gain valuable information about the university and their location. San Jose University is located in Silicon Valley in California, so the representative focused a lot on the different opportunities that this could present for our students. The representative also offered some very important information regarding the application process, tuition costs, and what the students can do with different degrees. Overall, it was a very beneficial presentation for our students to help them better prepare for their future.

10/18-20 HSINMUN

Last week from October 18 to 20, HSINMUN, a Model United Nations conference, was held at the International Bilingual School at Hsinchu Science Park. HAS sent 10 high school and middle delegates and one committee chair, including multiple first-time delegates. All of the delegates spoke up during the debate and gave speeches in support of their resolutions and amendments. Most importantly, all of them had a good time at the conference!

10/23 Winter Camp Presentation

We had VYA representative, Mr. Henry Liao and Mr. Antonio Chen, introducing and sharing the facts of the International volunteer camp. Our students were all excited and look forward listening to Mr. Antonio Chan’s presentation. They also asked very good questions. 2019 Candy Gram Sale

The coordinators of the community service of Hsinchu American School, Ethan Murphy and Bill Chang, are selling Halloween candy packs and homemade chocolate chips cookies during lunch break. They’re doing fundraising for World Vision Taiwan . Go Community Service !

10/17 Cooking Club

On Thursday, October 17th the HAS Cooking Club met for their first session of the 2019/2020 year. Members: Kelly Loo, Kevin Huang, Brian Chen, Evelyn Yeh, and Adam Gibbons we’re excited to prepare a variation of one of Mr. Stancati’s favorite Italian chicken dishes. They eagerly and joyfully worked together to make chicken in a lemony mushroom white wine sauce, which is a combination of Chicken Camerani & Chicken Piccata. The preparation looked so fun and the food smelled so good that Vicky Hsu couldn’t help but get involved and officially joined before the end of the session. 10/19-20 Camping Club

The Hsinchu American School Camping Club took its first overnight camping trip on Saturday, October 19-20. Seven high school boys, along with their advisor Mr. Murphy, stayed the night at the Xianhu Camping Site. During the daytime on Saturday, the group went swimming in the river, gathered wood for a campfire, set up their tents and cooking area, and ate a bunch of food and snacks. And even though the poles of one tent were left behind at the school (leaving the group one tent short), a great time was had by all.

10/21 PD Lunch

Today is the 1st PD day of Hsinchu American School. After morning meetings, our faculty had a great lunch time at the Lakeshore Hotel.

10/18 Floor Hockey Game

On October 18, 2019 there was a student teacher floor hockey game at the basement of Hsinchu American School. It was an exciting game between the students and the teachers as they fought for the puck and tried to score on each other. Barriers were set up so that the ball does not hit the cheering spectators.

HAS School Spirit!

Friday at HAS both students and teachers came to school wearing their HAS shirts for school spirit. This was a fun way for everyone to come together in support of the new year at HAS. The Journalism class organized all of the students and staff to stand in formation to spell out 19/20. It was a fun activity for all to participate in to show their excitement for this year as well as HAS school spirit!

Canadian College Fair in HAS (10/24)!!

The Canadian Trade Office in Taipei has invited HAS to host a college fair on campus for Canadian universities and colleges on Thursday, October 24th, from 15:10 to 16:15. There will be 24 schools attending (listed below). All high school students at HAS should attend. We encourage HAS parents to join us as well. By speaking with school representatives, students know more about their programs, requirements, and college life. So, mark the date on your calendar. Don’t miss the chance! See you there! 2019 HAS Summer T-Shirt

We are very excited to have received our new HAS t-shirts this week! Students help to design the shirts, and they are a great way for our students to show team spirit and comradery. It helps the students to take pride in the school year by representing HAS on their shirts as well. Teachers are also very excited about the new shirts and will be joining the students in HAS team spirits on Fridays. Go Wolves!
