2019 Club Fair

Our annual HAS Club Fair was a huge success! During this event, students listened to presentations about each club and then they got to choose which club or clubs they would like to join. Students have a wide variety of different clubs to participate in and learn from throughout the 2019-2020 school year. There are academic clubs, such as World Scholars, Model United Nations, and even robotics. Then there are the sports clubs including basketball, Ultimate Frisbee, and for the first time ever, Parkour. There are also different miscellaneous clubs, such as photography, dance, cooking and more. There are thirty different clubs for the students to choose from, each of which are appealing in the

HAS Students in World Scholar's Cup (Sydney)

Have you ever traveled to another country for a competition with your classmates and friends? I will tell you all about what happened to us during the World Scholar’s Cup Global Round in Sydney, Australia. The competition was from August 15th to August 21st. It was all a wonderful journey, although the airplanes we took were all economy class. World Scholar’s Cup is a team academic competition. You compete on a team of three and win individual medals (I won a few myself). After a few months of practicing the questions together, our school teams joined the regional competition in Kaohsiung in March. All of the qualifiers were welcomed to join the global round (and I qualified, of course). At

Student Orientation

We had a great student orientation for our first day of school here at Hsinchu American School. The day started off with a student assembly introducing new and returning teachers, going over announcements, and giving out SASMO(Singapore and Asian School Math Olympiad) awards. Next, the students participated in ice breaker activities created by the student council, and went to receive their textbooks and lockers. Students and teachers both enjoyed an amazing lunch brought to us by our new catering service. Finally, students got to go to each of their classes, meet their teacher and go over classroom procedures. We are off to a great start here at HAS, and we are very excited about the new sch

New Lunch Vendor--Shako Restaurant

Shako restaurant will cater lunch for HAS next semester. The owners were from high-tech industry, and they thus applied strict criteria on the service quality. Their food is local farmers produced, and are chemical additives free. One common cliche is that healthy food doesn’t taste good. However, getting a bite of Shako’s, people may want to change their opinions on what healthy food should be. After sampling, all HAS staff were pleased with the flavor and variety. Many of us even took seconds! Food from Shako’s is definitely something to look forward to next week! HAS is proud to provide more than food for thought. Care to join us for lunch?
