10/30 Special Visit from College Board

The Hsinchu American School had a special visit on Tuesday, October 30, from two representatives of the College Board: Mr. Sonny Lin, Executive Director of International College Board, and Mr. Gino Kuo, the Director of International Marketing. Four administrators and three teachers attended the very informative presentation. Mr. Lin and Mr. Kuo discussed changes to the AP program including the creation of a new AP Capstone program as well as new features of the SAT testing program including new and improved resources for students and parents and a new test date for August. 2018 Thanksgiving Potluck

Dear HAS Families, Hsinchu American School is holding its annual (and very popular!) Thanksgiving feast on Friday, November 23rd at 11:30am in B1 and you are all invited! The event is a potluck and always has lots of delicious food. It's a great time to share together and to give thanks for everything we have as a community. We will begin serving lunch at 11:30am. Following lunch, we will be hosting some games and activities for the students to participate in. Buses will run as normal at the end of the school day. We ask that students and parents prepare a dish to share at the event. Portion sizes for each dish should serve approximately 12-15 people. Food contributions have been organized b

10/7 CS: Agriculture Event

It is very hard for people from urban areas to understand the importance to treasure food. In the morning of October 7th, 2018, several HAS students went to Dashan, Miaoli for an agricultural event. Students had learned the farming procedures from modern to past, and the differences between organic and chemical farming. Apart from that, students went to a black beans field to help pick up weeds. Through this event, students not only experienced the hard works of the farmers but also understood how the agricultural products seem so precious and valuable. We really appreciate for having this chance to cooperate with the farmers in Dashan.

2018 Lock-In

On September 28th and 29th, HAS held its annual tradition of Lock-In and the students and teachers had so much fun! Lock-In is a great way for new and returning students and teachers to get to form strong bonds and build a sense of community. Student Activities Coordinator Elvis Feng and Angel Lin started off the event and did an amazing job of planning and leading three different house activities for all of the students to enjoy. The students then had dinner and then split into activity-based rooms. One of the highlights of the night was definitely the KTV Community Service event ran by Kelly and Ariel where Student Council members were nominated to sing in front of the entire school! Ben L
