HAS Gives Back to the Community!

On Saturday, April 21, thirty students along with Ms. Chen, Mr. Maginn, and Ms. Phenix had the opportunity to travel to the PACK Sanctuary in New Taipei City for a community service event. At the event, we learned about puppy mills in Taiwan and why it is very important to adopt or foster animals. We also met with Lucy and Willow, two of the Sanctuary's animals who had been paralyzed and abandoned. After a service-learning workshop, a group of students went to the Dog VIlla where they helped out by cleaning cages, moving large packages and helping the animals socialize. Other students helped by cleaning and socializing in at the Cat Villa, while some put together folders to help the PACK Vol

2018 TAIMUN

Last week, HAS attended TAIMUN in Taichung where the theme of the conference was 'Rethinking Economics'. Unlike most other MUN conferences located in Taiwan, this conference took place during the week, which meant that delegates had to double up on conference preparation and studying for midterms. The resolutions passed, however, made all the hard work worth it!

We are so proud of their progress and commend them for their hard work, determination and positive attitudes.

March 2018 Value of the Month

The most recent Middle School Value of the Month was perseverance. Perseverance is the ability and self-control that pushes you to work through challenges. Students learned about this important life skill in Advising with their teachers and classmates. During Advising, students also created a Star Board full of our dreams and the steps that we need to complete in order to achieve them. At HAS, we want our students to understand the value of persevering through difficult situations, improving, and always working their hardest! This value will benefit students now and well into their future achievements outside of HAS. This month the award winners for Student of the Month were Steve Loo in Gra
